Traildogs II - Pisgah National Forest, NC and Great Smoky Mountain National Park, TN - September 28th through October 1st, 2006

The first series of hikes, in the Pisgah National Forest, had many of the regular weekly hikers join Traildogs regulars Roy Cowan, Mike Epperson, Gene Stewart, Royle Duff and Bill Doll.  The second series of hikes were in Great Smoky Mountain National Park and included Ralph Nichols and Stephanie McCann, the newest members of the Traildogs.

For me, these hikes were particulary spectacular as there isn't anything comparable to these mountains, forests, and streams in SoCal.  Thanks to Mike Epperson for leading a great set of hikes to complement our Traildogs I hiking experience.

Traildogs III P - Eastern Sierras, CA - June 25th through June 29th, 2007

On the "spur of the moment", Roy Cowan called me and suggested we start planning the Traildogs III event . . . sounded reasonable to me . . . so, Roy flew to San Diego and we headed north on CA Hwy 395 to explore hiking in the Eastern Sierras . . . Roy and I extended our Eastern Sierra hiking to include some neat hikes in Yosemite and Sequoia National Park on our 1,315 mile round trip "Sierras Getaway" jaunt.  What a blast we had . . . great idea, Roy! . .  .

The four Krier brothers and a long time friend set out this past September to hike yet another beautiful area of the Eastern Sierras, Bishop Creek.

I still can't believe that Kevin bit that trout's head right off.

Traildogs III - Lake Tahoe, CA and NV - June 21st through June 28th, 2008

Seventeen hikers from the Eastern and Western contingents of the Traildogs spent a full week hiking and socializing in the Lake Tahoe Sierras.  This was the first event that we combined a hard core hiking adventure with a hard core vacation and social agenda . . . and judging by its success, we will do it again.

Gene, Roy and Bill hooked up for a week of hiking in the California deserts in mid-March . . . Death Valley National Park, the Greater Mojave Preserve, Joshua Tree National Park, and Anza Borrego State Park.  Lots of great hiking (including the 500' high Kelso Dunes), views, and desert wildflowers.
